Landcruiser extended shackles
A return to centre steering stabiliser reduces shimmy, driver fatigue as well as hazards from potholes and blowouts.Steering wheel kick is virtually elliminated. When the steering stabiliser is expanded or compressed  the coil pulls the shock back to the neutral position. The unit simply replaces the existing one on all models.

Double Steering stabilisers brackets for 80/100 series are available for heavily modified vehicles (38 inch plus tyres) Ask us.

Hilux Transfer Gears
What is it?
It's an adapter kit to combine your existing hilux transfercase with the front half (where the reduction happens) of another hilux transfer case. All the parts are included to the job, bear in mind though that you will have to have your front tailshaft lengthened and your rear tailshaft shortened. A cable or an air shifter to operate the extra case will soon be available.

The hilux transfer case is an ideal candidate for this conversion because high range is 1 to 1. Ie , no reduction. So if the front case is in high range, you can drive it just like a normal hilux, with normal high and low range gears. When the going gets really tough , throw the front case into low and you've got a double low range!

From 1979 to 1995, Toyota designed the mini-trucks with a very dependable gear driven transfer case.
This transfer case, model RF1A (pictured) featured a four piece design.
With strong front output gears and an available unbreakable 23-spline input, like Toyota, Marlin Crawler knew for sure that this was the transfer case of choice. And since the case is uniquely comprised of four pieces, we are easily able to obtain a lower crawl ratio.

The first piece  is the reduction housing. This is where the factory reduction gears are found. When searching for your donor transfer the following information should give you an idea of what to look for.













How to identify a chain or gear driven transfer case
All V6 Hiluxes use the chain drive tcase and have a 2.57 low range gear.
Most 4 Cylinder Hiluxes use a gear drive t/case with a 2.28 low range. However some 4 cyl trucks use the V6 style chain drive case.
The best way to find out what type you have is to look under your truck and count the bolts holding the rear cover in place.

If you have 7 bolts in the rear cover then you have the gear driven unit.

If you have 5 bolts holding the rear cover then you have the chain drive unit.

Bolt #7 is behind the drive shaft and can't be seen in this picture.

Ok now you know how to identify chain and gear driven transfer cases. Next is identifying the difference between top shifting and forward shifting.



How to identify Forward Shifting and Top Shifting transfer cases Forward Shifting  
 

The easy way to tell the difference is 4 speed = top shifting, 5 speed = forward shifting. When Toyota changed to the 5 speed gearbox the extension housing was longer than the 4 speed, this resulted in the need to have 2 shift rails that protruded from the front of the transfer case into the gearbox.

If you have a 5 speed gearbox you "should" have the 4x4 lever coming out of the gearbox not the transfer case.

No matter what you have now as long as it is gear driven you need a top shifting transfer to be the donor box. if you cannot locate a top shifting TC you can still buy and convert a forward shifting TC to top shifting.

Fitting is simple, take the case out, take the old gears out, put Rockhopper gears in, put the case back in, fill with oil, enjoy. A small amount of grinding is required inside the case on this model .
